A bag for the bear

The following post was up yesterday, but for some reason was deleted by Blogger.  Here it is again.  Sorry to the folks who already received it via email.                                                  ___________________________________________________
The students in Rose and Xyla's class have been asked to bring in a special item tomorrow.  Rose will be taking the little hat the hospital sent her home with after she was born (not sure how it got here) and Xyla will also be taking an item acquired at the hospital upon her birth - the bear pictured at right.

This bear, named Hospital Bear, was one of the things that was gifted her by the wonderful folks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Women's and Babies.  Every bear needs a nice accessory for their big day out, of course, and work began on the bag on Monday of this week.  The fabric was taken from a sample book of design fabrics that was laying around the house and with the exception of showing her how to tie a knot and threading the needle, Andrea and I stayed out of the way.

The book of fabric has come in handy and it provided the material I used to make a tooth fairy pillow which has been put to use twice since our arrival.  Hopefully the girls will cull more fabric for projects before we leave.

While the girls were at school, I enjoyed a bike ride around our part of Cheshire with one of the other dads at school.  Lee loaned me a bike and away we went.  I was fortunate that Lee felt energetic on the day as he made the trip on a fix-geared bike while I had the benefit of 18.  Thanks, Lee!
